Felton Angus
Location: Deer Lodge, MT
Breeds: Angus
Felton Angus Ranch has been raising registered Angus cattle in the mountains of western Montana since 1952, now in its 53rd year of consecutive production sales. A true family operation, the ranch runs cattle across two locations -- the Deer Lodge Valley Ranch with Jim Felton, and the Big Hole Valley Ranch near Wisdom, MT with Rich and Karol Felton. The fourth generation is coming up through the ranks, and the outfit still handles its own fencing, night calving, and farming. FAR is known in the industry as an outcross Angus genetic source, running solid bloodlines not widely found elsewhere. Bulls are developed on summer range with minimal supplementation -- what you see is bred on, not fed on. The program's focus is simple: length, thickness, bone, and sound structure that produces scale-smashing feeder calves and bulls that last. One Felton customer recently reported a bull still working at 15 years. FAR sells annually via live broadcast from the ranch in Deer Lodge, MT through Superior Livestock and DVAuction, and has been featured on The American Rancher.
